Engagement milestones are a useful tool to segment your database by engagement levels. You can target suitable content and frequency of broadcasts to specific segments which can be used to increase your read and click rates.

How can I use these milestones?

Once the milestones are implemented on your account you can start to target your segments. You can view your milestones in the contacts area of Airship:

This allows you to see the number of contacts and read rate for each particular milestone, you should notice that your highly engaged segment has a much higher read rate than the other segments.

Defining Engagement milestones -

  • New - has been sent less than 12 emails and has read none.

  • Highly engaged - has been sent at least 1 email & has read at least 1 email in past 30 days.

  • Engaged - has been sent at least 1 email & has read at least 1 email in past 1 - 6 months.

  • Unengaged - has been sent at least 1 email & has read at least 1 email in past 6 - 12 months.

  • Dormant - has been sent at least 1 email & has read none in the past 12 to infinity months.

To target your milestones go to Email Campaigns > Broadcast > Create new and choose which segment you would like to target. You can only target one milestone at a time so remember to plan the content you’d like to send to each milestone before you start.

You can also select the relevant units you’d like to target along with any other conditions on the simple search feature, then click Count Results to see how many people you’re sending to. Once you’re happy, you can proceed to the Email Builder as usual.
