You will use Airship’s simple search feature in almost every aspect of your email campaigns, this is where you will create your audience and decide who you want to send your emails to.

To get started head to Campaign > Email Campaign > Broadcast > Create New

Here you will see a selection of drop-down menus

Each of these filters allows you to select the type of contacts you want to send to and build really in depth customer segments.

PoP segments

This is where you can target customers based on how often they visit your venues, we’ll set these up based on your customer habits so that it is really reflective of your brand. To find out more about PoP check out this article.

Engagement milestones

Here you can reach out to your customers based on how often they read your emails, you might target the highly engaged segment for a specific offer or a last-minute event for example.

Include and exclude folders

This one is simple, you can select all of your database or break it down by venue and/or group. For example, you could just send it to your WiFi customers. You could then choose to exclude certain venues or groups from your email send.

Tip: Quickly find groups that are under each location within include and exclude folders by using the search bar. Type the groups you want to target > click Select *group name* Groups.

Narrow search by personal details

This is where you can segment your customers based on their demographic information; gender, age, and postcode to name a few. It is also where you’ll come to do a test send by adding your own email address in the email field.

Narrow search by Suppressions and Inclusions

Here you can target customers on the transactional data you hold on them, for example, you could choose to send an email to all of the customers who booked a table with you in the last 30 days, those that have spent more than a certain amount with you or those that have left feedback in the past 10.

We have some more information about include, exclude, inclusions and suppressions here.

Narrow search by user-defined fields

This is where we store any custom information on your database, for example, you could include a favourite venue or narrow your customers down based on their likes and dislikes in here.

Narrow search by opt-in.

We’ll only activate this on your account if you want it on there, this is where you can define the marketing opt-in of your customers. You can read more about this here.

Search by previous broadcast

Sometimes you may want to target your customers based on their previous email interaction - this is where you would do that!

Saving your search

Once you’ve created your search you can save it so that next time you just need to select it from a list. This updates dynamically so if any customers have met your criteria after you’ve created your search they will also be included.

Finally, always remember to split test your emails! Find out how to do this here. Now you’re ready to build and send your email!
