Starting with small regular sends

Now that you have almost completed your onboarding with Airship, you’ll be excited to send your first email! You will have been told that when you join Airship we assign you your very own IP address, this means that nobody else has any effects on how your emails are delivered. Before you can send your first email to your whole database your new IP address will need warming up!

We recommend spreading this process out over a few days depending on the size of the database. This will help to increase the IP reputation (another really great this to do is to get your Date triggered emails set up).

Before proceeding - complete a test send of the email and understand the steps for sending an email.

IP warming plan example:

For this scenario - the database size includes 40,000 contacts. We’ll warm your new IP address by sending to 10,000 customers per day for 4 days. You can use the “limit results” tool to stagger your sends, this will automatically select the most engaged customers to send to first.

To start the email send for each day go to Email campaigns > Broadcast > Create new.

Day 1 -

  • Include folders > select all groups

  • Limit results to 10,000

  • Tick this box if this is a split test send.

  • Continue with the split test send and send your first email.

Day 2 -

  • Include folders > select all groups

  • Limit results to 10,000

  • Search by previous broadcast > Email > filter the emails to show Day 1 emails.

  • Select Day 1 emails and has not received

  • Continue as normal to send the email

Day 3 -

  • Include folders > select all groups

  • Limit results to 10,000

  • Search by previous broadcast > Email > filter the emails to show Day 1 & 2 emails.

  • Select Day 1 & 2 emails and has not received

  • Continue as normal to send the email

Day 4 -

  • Include folders > select all groups

  • Limit results to 10,000

  • Search by previous broadcast > Email > filter the emails to show Day 1, 2 & 3 emails.

  • Select Day 1, 2 & 3 emails and has not received

  • Continue as normal to send the email

Airships customer success team will help you to plan when to send your emails and to how many customers.

Once IP warming is complete, emails can be sent to all of the database in one send.
