Now that you've got to grips with the main functions of the email builder you can start to customise your email. We also have an article to help you get started, here.
How to add an Image
On the content tool box, select the Image option, while selected drag it towards the empty canvas and drop it in the blue box you want an image to be placed within.
Once the image content box has been added to your email canvas, click it. On the right, the content toolbox options will allow you to upload or drop your chosen image.
How to resize an image
Select the image you have uploaded to the email builder and untick the box next to 'Auto Width' on the content tool bar. Once you have done this, you can use the slider to resize the image.
Image Requirements
When adding an image or a GIF to your email they will have to be the following files: JPEG, PNG or GIF and less than 2mb in size
How to edit text
Once you have added your text into your email, select the textbox. On the content toolbar, options will be displayed for you to alter all the text within this box
Only wanting to edit part of the text
Highlight the text that you are wanting to alter and a toolbar will appear above the content box - here you can choose from various text altering options.
Changing background colours
To change the colour of the entire background of the email, go to the tool bar on the right > Body > Background Colour.
Changing colours of columns
Option one:
This option allows you to select the background colour of the content within your row.
Select the row > on the content toolbar select background colour > select your choice of colour.
Option two:
An option to change the colour of the entire length of your selected column. Content toolbar > scroll down to row properties > background colour > select whichever colour you would like.
Adding a link:
To add a link to text:
Highlight the text you want to link out from > select the chain icon in the above tool bar.
This box will appear and you can choose to either link out to a website, phone number or email.
Target
Here you can decide whether when your viewer clicks the link, that their device opens a new tab to your linked page or uses the same tab your email is open in.
Button:
To add a link to a button, select it and the content toolbar on the right will show the URL and target option - if you are linking out to a website, paste the website URL into the URL box.
Image:
Select the image you are wanting to link out from, on the content tool bar on the right side, scroll down to the action column, here you will see the URL box, where you can paste your website URL into
Move blocks around
To move blocks around, first select the row. When selected, a blue border should appear around the row. On the right side of this border, there is an icon with four arrows, select this and drag the row wherever you would like to place it in your email.
Adding and removing padding for images
Padding is adding space around your image. To add padding to all sides of your image in one go, select your image, go to the content toolbar on the right, then to the general drop down menu and click the + or - symbols to add or remove padding around your image.
If you want to add padding to just one side of the image, select the image, go to the general drop down menu, tick the more options button to turn it green. Once this has been selected, you are able to add or remove padding to each side of the image.
Hiding rows/columns for mobile or desktop viewers
Some images may look better on a desktop than on a mobile device. To hide content for a mobile user, select mobile on the content toolbar, select on your email which row you want to hide, scroll to the bottom of the tool bar and click the button on the right of 'Hide on Mobile' so it turns green. The content you want to hide on your email will not disappear, instead it will dullen.
Aligning text
To change the alignment of all the text within your row, select the row you are wanting to alter within your email, on the content toolbar, under the TEXT drop down, go to Text alignment and select which alignment you want for your text
Or select the row you are wanting to alter within your email, on the tool bar above your text select one of the text alignment options
Link Colours
When adding links to text within your email, it can change the font colour and style to show an obvious link for your audience but this can affect the overall aesthetic of your email - this option allows you to alter the colour of the linked texts.
To change the colour of the links within your email, head to body and under 'Links' select the colour. Here, you can also check whether you would like to underline your links or not.
