The Airship Form Builder allows you to create your own landing pages for data collection.

To access the builder, head to your Airship dashboard and click on the "Form Builder" link.

Getting started

Click "Add" to add a new form (or if editing an existing form, click the edit icon next to the form you want to update).

Give your form a name and select the default Location you’d like to write the data to.

The "Group" name you specify here will allow you to view and target any contacts who submit this form, so give it a suitable name so you can easily find these contacts later.

Adding fields

You can choose the data you collect via your form by adding and removing fields.

Click to add new rows to your form (and optionally choose a layout to create grid-style display of your fields).

You can then click into each cell of your layout to add a field into that area.

For each option you can enter:

  • Field title (which sites above the text box)

  • Placeholder (which sits within the text box)

  • Whether the field is mandatory or not.

Note that a form must have at least a mandatory email or mobile field before it can be used, so make sure you add one of those.

Opt-in field

If you want to collect marketing consent, make sure you add an "opt-in" field.

You can choose to make the opt-in field mandatory (for newsletter sign up forms) or non-mandatory (for example, if it’s a competition form).

Location select field

You can also allow guests to choose a location or locations that they'd like to sign up to. Choose between either a "single select" option or a "multi-select" option, and configure whether to show all your locations as available options, or specific locations only:

Note that contacts will be added to both your default location AND the location they choose on this field. If you add a location field to your form, you'll probably want to set the default location form this form to your "head office" unit.

Enquiry select field

You can also allow guests to leave any kind of enquiries. Choose a "Enquiry" field option if you want to add this to your form. This field has a limit of 500 characters.

If the guests leaves an enquiry when submitting the form, you will be able to review it on the Contact Page by clicking on ‘Contact Enquiries’ button.

Customising and styling your forms

Once you’re happy with the fields and layout of your form, you can customise and style it.

Choose from a variety of additional configuration options:

  • The subheading - You can use this to describe your form to your customers

  • Whether you’d like customers who have previously signed up on your account to be able to sign up again - This is useful for competition forms

  • What should happen when you submit your form? - It could show a thank you message for example

  • You can also add your privacy policy.

You can also style the text, button and background of your form:

Under each of these sections, you'll see a preview of what your styling changes will look like.

Finish and share

Once you’re happy with your form, don’t forget to save it!

You’ll then see an option to Share your form at the top of the page.

You will then have the options to:

  • Copy a direct link to your form (go ahead and use this link to go and preview your form now too!)

  • Copy an embeddable version, allowing you to drop into an existing page of your website.

  • Copy a link to include in your email, this can be used for competition forms or asking your database to update their details.
