Managing Products
If you have one of our EPOS partners connected, then you will be getting regular purchase information into your Airship account. This will include things like;
Who made the purchase
What location they purchased at
When (Date / Time) they purchased
What items were purchased
SKU number
Product name
Quantity
Price
Quite often the quality of the product details can vary from source depending on their capabilities, so we might get a non-user friendly product name (i.e. BC BTY for Bacon Butty), or in some cases just an ID. When trying to Ask Airship about purchase behaviour of your guests, this makes it very tricky to get accurate results.
The product catalogue allows you to better manage your products within Airship (important to note any updates do NOT get pushed back to your POS / provider).
From your menu, we might get something like the below;
SKU | Product name |
1024 | Not-Chicken Burger |
2087 | Bean-Burger |
3310 | HAL Burger |
So if you asked the question "How many vegetarian meals did we sell last week?" or "How many Halloumi burgers did we sell last week?" - Its not clear to Airship which products are vegetarian / Halloumi or not, so would not pick up every dish you'd expect - which in turn would skew the results.
The Product Catalogue allows you to manage these products and add additional meta data;
SKU | Product name | Friendly Name | Tags |
1024 | Not-Chicken Burger |
| Vegetarian, Burger, Summer menu |
2087 | Bean-Burger | Bean-Burger | Vegan, Vegetarian, Burger, Mains |
3310 | HAL Burger | Halloumi Burger | Vegetarian, Burger, Special Menu |
So if you asked the same questions "How many vegetarian meals did we sell last week?" or "How many Halloumi burgers did we sell last week?" - There is a lot more context against the product to allow Airship to find any contacts with purchases against these items.
Updating Product Data
The Product Catalogue will be located under 'Tools'. There are a few ways product data can be appended with extra information;
Via a POS integration
From the source of the data, its possible that we can receive Tags against the product - every time a product comes to us. We will store this against the SKU and it will be available to Ask Airship on automatically.
Currently the only integration(s) that pass this info is;
Zonal basket data (We get Category / Sub category added as Tags)
All other purchase data will need one of the below
Via CSV upload
Within the product catalogue, you can 'Import'. This will take you through a series of steps, and provide a template for how the menu items can be imported. The fields in the file need to contain;
SKU (required)
Product (required)
Friendly Name (optional)
Tag 1 - 10 (optional)
The SKU is the unique reference, so any additional info will append the record based on this SKU value.
Via Manual updating
Within the product catalogue, you can see a unique list of products on your account - based on what has been provided previously from the EPOS integrations. Initially, these will be blank - but you can go through and adjust the Friendly product names / tags on a product by product basis.
