Introduction

If a guest missed an email they were supposed to receive, you can manually trigger a resend. This guide explains how to resend an email to a specific contact.

Step 1. Log into Airship and go to Emails > Send an email

Step 2. Click Filter Audience by Personal Details and enter the contact's email address in the email search field

Step 3. Click count results (at the bottom of the page) just to be sure that contact's email is correct and is on your database.

If you get a '1' returned you can click Next.

If you get 0 results returned then the email you used is either incorrect or the contact doesn't exist on your database. If the contact isn't on your database you'll need to add them first - check our guide here to do that.

Step 4. On the next page you'll need to select a saved email to send to this contact.

Use the drop-down menu (where it says 'change email...') to pick the email you want to send.

Use the 'Filter by Date' filter to help find it, if needed.

After clicking the email from the drop-down you'll see the email load up on the same page. This let's you see how it looks so you can be sure you picked the right one.

But, if needed, you can also make edits to the email - to the subject line, email content, and tags.

Or, you can just leave the email exactly as it is.

Click Next.

Step 5. On the next page you'll see three link 'Attributes'.

These attributes are for your Google Campaign Tags - find out more here.

Here's what to enter for each one:

a. Campaign Name - put whatever you want here e.g. "welcome resend"

b. Campaign Medium - "Email"

c. Campaign Source - "Airship"

Click apply to all and then Next.

Step 6. The final page is the Broadcast review. This page re-caps the subject line and email content of the email, as well as the audience (contact) it'll be sent to and also the tags this email has.

If you want to make any edits to the email content click the blue 'edit' buttons next to each section and this will redirect you back to a previous page you've been on to make the edits.

Likewise, clicking the 'Edit audience' button will take you back to a previous page if you need to change the person (audience) you want to send the email to.

You can also add tags if you want. Learn more about tags here.

Chances are, the main thing you want to do is to get the email sent to the contact immediately. If that's right, just scroll to the bottom of the page where it says Schedule email and either select a date and time to send it or tick the "or send immediately" box.

Now click the purple Send immediately button.

(or the button will say 'schedule send', if you set a specific date to send it out).

All done! The contact will now receive the email to their inbox. πŸ₯³

FAQs and things to note

How can I check if the contact received the email I sent them?

  • Search the contact's email address on the search filter on the Overview page of your dashboard and press enter to search

  • When you're on the contact's profile click View Sent Broadcasts

  • On the filters search the month/year the email was sent and search by 'Broadcast Email'.

Why does the email show as a 'Broadcast' email?

When you send an email to a contact in the way outlined in this guide, it's considered by the Airship system to be a stand-alone email, in the same way any other Broadcast email is a stand-alone email. This means even if the email you sent was actually a Welcome or Birthday email, it still is marked as a Broadcast by the system. This doesn't affect the email itself and the contact will still receive the email and interact with it as intended.

If this email was part of a Welcome or Birthday Journey, will the rest of the emails in the Journey continue to send to this contact?

Maybe yes and maybe no. It depends on a few things such as:

  • When the contact was first added to your Airship database

  • If they are still opted-in

  • When the date-triggers of your Journey kick-in

Can I re-send an email to multiple contacts at the same time?

No - the process outlined in this guide allows you to send an email to one contact at a time. If you need to send an email to more contacts you'll need to repeat the steps for each one.
