Switching on the b-connect / Airship connector means that each time a customer connects to your WiFi, the customer and WiFi data will be automatically sent to your Airship database.

Getting started

To set up an integration, you will need the following:

  • Airship Account ID (provided by Airship Customer Success team)

  • Airship Group IDs (can be created and obtained on Airship dashboard)

  • A REST API token (to create it follow our guide here)

Creating Groups on Airship

  • Go to Airship > Audiences > Folders & Groups > +Group:

  • Select a Unit you want to add a group to and a name of the group:

  • After a group is created, you will see an ID of it as per below:

Setting up an integration

Once you get all the info mentioned above together, login to b-connect dashboard and finish the set up.

  • Go to Integrations > Airship > add API Key and Account ID:

  • Map each b-connect location to its corresponding Airship unit. After that, select the group where your contacts will be imported:

  • Click Save and Finish.

What data is sent to Airship?

  • Contact - Date of Birth

  • Contact - Gender

  • Contact - Email address

  • Contact - Email opt in

  • WiFi transaction - Hot Spot Name

  • WiFi transaction - AP MAC Address

  • WiFi transaction - Mime Type

  • WiFi transaction - Interaction Type

  • WiFi transaction - Interaction Date/Time

  • WiFi transaction - Interaction Location

Data is sent in near real-time to your Airship database when a customer connects to your WiFi. PoP is created when a contact is received.

View your data in Airship

Once the connector is enabled, you will be able to see data flowing into your Airship account, by navigating to "Folders & Groups".

To access your Contact Folders in Airship, scroll down to “Contacts” in the main menu and select “Folders & Groups”.

You’ll be able to select your Wifi Group to see contacts within that Group that have been added via the b-connect connector.

Historic Data

Historic contact data will automatically be imported once the integration is activated. Please note that currently the historic import of WiFi interactions is not supported so whilst the historic contact data will be added, the PoPs won't be updated.
