How to edit a contact's name

Need to update a contact's name on your Airship account? Here's what to do.

Written by Stephen Evans

Sometimes you might need to edit a contact's name on their behalf if it has changed or it isn't correct.

For example, someone may have signed up to you using an Airship form and put their first name as 'Mr' or 'Mrs'. This means any emails you send to them on Airship will pull that name into any merge tags you have on your email - saying something like "Hi Mr...".

How to edit a contact's name

First, you'll need to find the contact. To do this, log into your Airship account and:

  1. Click Insights

  2. Click Dashboard (classic)

  3. Enter the contact's email address or mobile number into the search bar and press Enter, or click the search symbol

Once the contact's profile loads, you will find a section on that page called 'Personal details'.

To edit the name you can delete what's already there and re-enter the correct name. Then click the blue Update button to save those changes.

Now the contact's name will now be updated on your Airship database (you'll see a 'contact updated' message at the top of the page confirming this) and future emails sent to this contact will pull in this updated name.
