About this page
Airship provides an integration that lets our customers — the businesses and venues that use Airship — sync their own marketing audiences to Meta (Facebook and Instagram) Custom Audiences. This page explains what data is involved and how deletion can be requested, as required by Meta's Platform Terms.
What data Airship holds
When a business connects its Meta account to Airship and creates an audience sync, Airship stores:
Hashed contact identifiers — We store..
email address
phone number
first and last name
city, county and postcode
country
gender
date of birth
.. Converted into an irreversible cryptographic hash (SHA-256) before use. Airship does not store or send raw contact data to Meta as part of this feature.
A secure connection token — an encrypted access token that authorises Airship to manage audiences in the connected Meta ad account. It is stored encrypted and is never shared.
Meta account references — the identifiers of the connected Meta business and ad accounts.
Airship does not receive or store Facebook or Instagram user profiles, or any personal data that Meta holds about its users.
That’s the names of the connected business and ad accounts, who connected them and who accepted the terms, plus each sync’s name, description, segment and opt-out link are also stored.
Who is responsible for this data
The business you interact with — for example the venue, brand, or retailer whose marketing you receive — is the data controller: they own the customer records and decide how they are used. Airship acts as their data processor, handling the data on their instructions. Deletion of an individual's data is therefore normally carried out through that business.
How to request deletion
If you are a guest or customer of a business that uses Airship: contact that business and ask them to delete your data. Once they remove your record from their Airship account, you are automatically excluded from any future audience syncs to Meta. You may also contact Airship at success@airship.co.uk and we will pass your request to the relevant business.
If you are an Airship customer (the business): you can delete any contact from your Airship account at any time — that contact is then excluded from future Meta audience syncs. It’s also important that you delete remove the contact from any other platforms the profile might have originated from before entering Airship. You can also disconnect the Meta integration entirely from Integrations → Meta in your Airship dashboard.
Audiences already created in Meta
Audiences already pushed to your Meta ad account are managed within Meta. To remove one, delete the corresponding sync in Airship (Segments → Meta audiences), or remove the Custom Audience directly in Meta Ads Manager.
