What is the Data Preferences Centre?
The Data Preferences Centre is a tool that gives your customers control over their own personal data. It allows them to view, update, or delete the information Airship holds about them, in line with their rights under UK GDPR.

How does it work?
Step 1: Share the link with your customers
You need to provide customers with a link to your Data Preferences Centre. This link is unique to your Airship account and will look something like this:
Not sure what your link is? Contact us at success@airship.co.uk and we can confirm it for you.
You can share this link in a number of ways, such as:
In the footer of your emails
On your website
In SMS messages
In printed materials
The most common place is the footer of your marketing emails, where it typically appears as a "Preferences" or "Manage your data" link.
If you are not already including this link in your email footer and would like to, contact us and we can get this set up for you.
Step 2: The customer verifies who they are
When a customer visits the link, they will be asked to enter their email address or mobile number. Airship will then send them a one-time access code to confirm their identity before they can view or change anything.
Step 3: The customer makes their changes
Once logged in, the customer can:
View the personal data Airship holds on them
Update their contact preferences
Export a copy of their data
Request to have their data deleted
Airship keeps a record of any changes a customer makes through the tool.
What happens if a customer requests deletion?
If a customer requests to delete their data, Airship will notify you by email and will automatically action the deletion from your Airship account after 30 days.
โ ๏ธ Important: Airship can only delete data held within your Airship account. If you hold that customer's data in other systems (such as a booking platform, EPOS, loyalty scheme, or wifi provider) you are responsible for removing it from those too.
What if a customer submits a Subject Access Request?
If a customer requests a full copy of all their data, this is known as a Subject Access Request (SAR). The Data Preferences Centre can trigger this process, but depending on the nature of the request it may need to be handled manually.
