How to automatically send booking data from me&u to your Airship database

Written by Anthony Moore

Switching on the me&u x Airship connector means that each time a customer makes or changes a booking, the customer and booking data will be automatically sent to your Airship database in near real time.

Getting started

To get started, provide confirmation in writing to your me&u Account Manager that your data can be shared with Airship.

You will need the following details from Airship;

  • Airship Personal Access Token (Read + Write)

  • Airship Account ID

Creating an API token

You'll need to create an API "Personal Access Token" for me&u to pass data into your account securely. To do this, you can either;

A) Invite your me&u account manager as a user to your Airship account and let them do this themselves, or;

B) You can do this on their behalf and pass the token on to them securely.

To create an API Personal Access Token, follow our guide here >

Airship Account ID

me&u will also require your Airship Account ID. If you're not sure what this is, please request it from our Customer Success team.

Airship Unit IDs

Once you have setup the connection within me&u, they will pull a list of locations from our API - to allow you to map them to the corresponding location within me&u. This ensures when a booking is created at a specific site, it is accurately represented in Airship.

What data is sent?

The following information will be sent and stored against the Airship customer profile;

  • First Name

  • Surname

  • Email Address

  • Mobile Number

  • Email Opt-in

  • Venue

  • Booking info

    • Booking reference

    • Reservation date/time

    • Enquiry date/time

    • Booking status

    • Booking source

    • Booking type

    • Party Size

    • Deposit paid

This data is a source of PoP.

Note, some of the above fields may be optional in the me&u platform. A contact must have a valid email address or mobile number to be added to Airship.

Groups

When a contact is added to Airship, it will be added to the venue the booking was made for, into a group called me&u Reservations.

How it works

me&u sends a booking to Airship as soon as it is created, and again each time it is updated. This keeps Airship in sync with the booking platform, including any changes to the booking such as cancellations and no-shows.

When a booking is processed by Airship, we perform a check to see if the booking is New, or already exists. If the booking is new, we will;

  • Add / update the contact profile

  • Associate the booking to the contact profile

If the booking already exists, Airship will;

  • Update the booking details, including the booking status (e.g. cancelled or no-show)

Existing marketing consent is always preserved. A booking from me&u will never remove an opt-in a customer has already given you in Airship.

Historic data

The me&u connector only sends bookings that are created or updated after it has been switched on. Historic bookings are not sent.

To bring your historic me&u data into Airship, export it from me&u as a CSV and upload it using the Contact Uploader. Find out how here >

View your data in Airship

Once the connector is enabled, you will be able to see data flowing into your Airship account, by navigating to Folders & Groups.

To access your Contact Folders in Airship, scroll down to "Database" in the main menu and select "Folders & Groups". Any data from me&u will be visible in the me&u Reservations folder > me&u Reservations group.

Additionally me&u will pass in Tags from their platform for certain attributes, i.e. if the guest is a Vegan, VIP or birthday booking. This can later be used to help segment and identify these guests.

To view the booking data, open a contact record and click "View bookings". This screen will show the booking record details for the customer.
