Smart Location filters will help you target contacts more precisely for the location that is most relevant to them.

When selecting the audience to target, there are three options to choose from, these will determine who receives the email, and if used what the dynamic content will change to.

‘All guests who appear in any of the locations selected’ option:

This will target all guests that exist within the locations selected in spite of whether that location is their favourite or last visited. This should be used when you want to target every customer in specific locations.

For example, you want to send an email out letting your guests know about a menu change within the venues that they might be interested in.

How will this affect how my email is received?

The email will come from the customers favourite location if this location is included, if the favourite isn't included it will come from last visited, if last visited isn't included it will come from last interacted etc...

An example of this is:

  1. An audience is created targeting "all guests who appear in any of the locations selected", Sheffield & Leeds have been selected, if the guests favourite location is Sheffield and merged content is used the guest will receive the email from Sheffield.

  2. An audience is created targeting "all guests who appear in any of the locations selected", Manchester & Leeds have been selected, the guest last visited the Manchester location (even though their favourite is Sheffield) so they will be included in the audience and they will be sent the email from Manchester.

If merged content isn't used the customer will receive the email from your brand e.g "Airship"

‘Only guests whose latest visit was in any of the locations selected’ option:

This will target those customers who had last visited the location selected for the email send. This should be used when setting up post visit emails meaning the dynamic content will change for the location the contact has just visited.

For example, if you want to send an email asking for feedback about a specific visit this is the option to use.

‘Only guests whose favourite location is any of the locations selected’ option:

This is measured by the amount of visits guests have within a venue and these are generated by using Airship’s PoPs. The venue in which the guest has visited the most, will be classed as their favourite.

When sending an email to a select number of locations, and favourite location is selected, the email will only go to those contacts who have one of these locations as their favourite.

If using dynamic content in the email, this content will change to match their favourite location.

This selection should be used if sending a brand wide email where you want the content to be localised to your guests favourite location, this would include things such as booking links.

You can find out more about setting up merged content here.
